remington 700 264 cal.
I was asked to sell one for a friend at the local show this weekend I quoted him $400-450 over the phone for it as I know most 700's go in that range around here. On the auction side there are two one at $730 and one $830. is this caliber that sought after that they go that much higher?? No pictures and I havn't seen it yet just trying to figure out what a used one would bring, don't want to give it away, but still get him a fair price. should I start it over $500?? just ballpark figure will do.

mike the 830 was a bid, the 739 was starting....[:0] I just wasn't sure if the 264 would make it worth any more than any other 700 in say 30-06. as all he wants to do is trade it for something with ammo more reasonably priced. I would trade it even for 30-06 for him just didn't want to rip him off.
edit... alan I guess the bottom line is all other things equal, cdl,bdl ect. and condition, would the caliber alone make it worth considerably more, or would it still just be an even trade????0 -
It can be a regional type thing too. You might not a lot of North Easter's want a 264, but the beanfield shooters in the South East, Sendero shooters in the mid South, and the mountain hunters in the West like the flat shooter's. I actually prefer(in my older age) less recoil than the things I have shot a lot of in the past. However, the 264 has not got a lot of recoil compared to the big 300's, and 338's.
Depends on what Model 700 variation it is, if it is worth that much. The have the Sendero SF-II, that are around $1100.00 starting price.

I'd suggest that a lot will depend on new or used, and how harshly.
Which model? Beings as, "Remington Model 700 .264" does not describe which model: ADL, BDL, CDL, SPS, XCR, XHR, Sendero, etc. SS, blued, WS wood, LS or Syn, etc. Maybe you and he know what you are referring to, maybe everyone else knows as well, over here I got no specific ideaa what you folks are talking about. Is it per factory or a rebarrel.
I'd suggest doing a search of that particular model ... of ones that have sold recently. That is apt to tell you more of what you want to know.
I'd gotten a Sendero SF II .264 last year ........... it's nice! I know that a fair number of them have been auctioned here on GB. Some of those are sold used for $700-850, give or take. Some been with mounts and rings, dies, ammo and brass, etc., etc.

How old is this gun ??? Some of the 700 .264's made in the 60's were very few with blue stainless barrels. 0 -
The 264 Winchester magnum was a standard chambering for model 700s, I think 2 different times, not sure. I've seen a few throughout the years, been a 264 shooter for 40+ years. The big deal about 264s is barrel lenth, they don't live up to thier potential unless they have a 26" barrel.
Out here in gods country, if it's a nice BDL it should be worth $400 to $500, maybe $550 if it's realy nice with a 26" barrel.

it was in good shape, needed cleaned, but a bdl, no rust just a few hunting dings in wood. Had a lot of lookers and traders finally got a buyer near end of day, $500. guess that was a good price since he only wanted $450[;)] and yes I gave him the full 500.. 0 -
Prices in West By God Virginia run about the same as they do out here on the upper left coast.
