E2 grip on standard M14 stock
I have obtained a complete M14E2 front grip assemb. backing plate, screws, everything. Is there any problem mounting this on a standard M14 wood stock? I have the 'beefier' wood stock not the thin fragile one. I have the bipod (real GI) and know how the grip works with the bipod swivel. I had a complete E2 stock years ago and really did not like it with that broomstick sticking down and a butt that belongs in a ghetto. Standard M14 stocks aren't rare, I even see them at local flea mkts. from $25 to $50 some with all the metal. They are available at Fred's too, so if it doesn't work; its not like I'll be sans a stock. The grip is handy when 'rockin', ya know? The E2 stock may be heavier, but with that inside 6" backing plate and using the bipod swivel as intended, it should work, shouldn't it? All stocks seem to have same clearance area between gas cyl./op. rod and wood, any inletting should be minor at most.
