Stoeger Luger 22 reblue

Refinish question

I have a Stoeger Luger 22 and the frame is made form an alloy
of some kind and a lot of the blue/black finish is gone.

How can I reblue the alloy frame of the Stoeger Luger 22 pistol?

  Check With BROWNELLS TECH dept their bake on products are very good but you might melt that Stoeger

  The original finish on the early alloy frame Stoeger .22's was anodized. As the previous posters noted the cheapest and easiest way to refinish them nowadays would be to use one of the modern paint products. Not all of them require the application of heat to cure and dry the paint. If you want to put more money into it your going to have it stripped and reanodized by a pro.

  Powder coating uses oven baking at 450 F. or so, maybe not feasible.

  Why not leave it alone? : they are not $1000 guns and the $$ spent will never be recovered, no matter what method you choose.
  If it's for sentimental reasons, you're on your own.

  I would be really carefull of oven and zink/potmetal/white castings. Have seen a few guns that warped due to heat. Something like alumina grip then paint might work better than just paint.
