browning model 92 in 357 mag

I'm looking to find and buy a 92 built in USA as described above but I have one problem , where were they made ? It seems that to get a real one you have to be carefull. Any information that will give me some guidance. thanks

  I think Rossi made one of these in Brazil, but I don't know of any made in the U.S. in .357. Hangfire has one built from a Winchester '92 take-down carbine by an old mutual friend of ours. It is one of the neatest handling little shooters you will ever find, but I can't recommend taking that path unless you find a Winchester that has no real value and are willing to put the time and $ into the conversion.

  Brownings were made by Miroku in Japan as far as I know.

  The Browning B92s were made in Japan.
  The NRA gunsmithing manual shows how to make a takedown conversion as well as 357 and 44 mag conversions.
  No US manufacturers made a 357 on a 92 action though Numrich has made barrels in these calibers for '92 conversions.
  Before '92s became collectors'items some shooters had them converted to more useful calibers. 38-40 and 44-40 became 44 mags and 218 Bee, 25-20 and 32-20 guns became 357 mags.

  None of the Original Winchester 1892, or 92's, made here in the USA, were made in the 357 chambering. As stated, there were several conversions.
  
  Browning, an American company, and it's sister division Winchester, both had some Model 92's made by Miroku, in Japan. The Japan made rifles are very nice for fit and finish, and silky smooth. They are your best bet, to get what you want. I would not myself, even consider one made in South America.
