winchester 97 problem

There is an adjustment built into the gun to tighten and eliminate the "wobble". The problem is that, over the years, most of these old 97's have had all the adjustment taken up.

As far as safe to shoot; I think that just asking the question answers it. My father had a Remington model 10 with the same type of adjustments. After using up all the adjustments, I asked him not to shoot it anymore--he retired it.

Win. made 7 different adjustment rings for the 97" (same part as the m-12 win), unforunetly they didn't mark them as to witch was what. 1st try to adjust with the one that is on the gun, if that doen't tighten thing up, find a gunsmith with a box full of them and try swaping.
