PSL Kit
I would like to try to build a PSL from a Kit. I would like to avoid all the junk. What brand or where should I be looking? Maybe they are all the same. Enlighten me.

PSL = Romanian military designated marksman rifle, has a cosmetic resemblance to the Russian Dragunov, but internally it's a AK.
IMHO, your going to waste your time and money. Do a build on a AR lower chambered for the .308. Way more accurate and more likely you will get your money out of it, if you sell it latter on.0 -
As rufe-snow pointed out, the PSL is just an AK made for the 7.62x54 round ... and the mags are only available in 10 rounds unless you modify something else.
If you are just doing it for the experience and money is no object go for it ... but if you think its going to save you money, it won't ... especially if you value your time at all.
Typically an AK/PSL build isn't for a beginner. I don't know what your mechanical ability is or what you have for tools ... or how much of a build you are talking about ... are you going to bend your own receiver flat or just buy a receiver? If you are bending it yourself, you will need special jigs and rivet plates as well as a welder ... Even buying a ready made receiver you will still have to rivet in the trunnions and head space the barrel. And don't forget your compliance parts! I know the first few I built from flats, I screwed up a few ... but in the end it was fun. I built 4 AKs from flats and AMD-65 kits I bought back when they were cheap. When I was done I sold my special tools and not counting my time I broke even for what it would have cost me to go out and buy them.
