shell casing

I was hiking around my families land this past weekend and came across an odd shell casing. It was in a previously in a pretty wooded area but we had a wildfire that ended up clearing up alot of land. Anyways the primer is a weird circular primer...not like the new ones. On the north end of the primer is a # 3 and on the south end is a # 95. Any idea what shoots this or what kind of ammo this is?

  It looks like a 7.62X39 Russian round.

  +1 for 7.62 x 39 R. Hard to tell from pic but I'd say you are seeing cratering from loose fit between bolt and firing pin.

  I stand corrected gentlemen. It is a 7.62x.39 I compared it to one of mine. I was kinda of hoping for something a little bit more exciting. Maybe next time. Used to be old Indian country.

  Next time you need to take a pic(if digital) select the flower looking think.
  
  It's a close up feature, makes close shots look a lot more focused.
