SXS RIFLE

I've always had a hankering for a sxs rifle, but the cost, for a "real" sxs, ($5,000 plus a bunch) has always been a killer for me. Two questions please. Are the Rem./ Baikal SPR-22, in 30-06 worth the $1,000 being asked? How is their quality? Are they well regulated? Also, if you are truly bored today, take a look at GB No. 268924071, and tell me what you think. I would like to lenghten this chamber to handle the S&W 460 round. Do-able? THX HAWKSHAW

  The 454 case is 1.383in.long and the 460 is 1.800in.long. That's almost a 1/2" longer. Looking at pictures 20+21 the barrels look heavy enough to do it.
  You might call the techs at Brownells and ask them what they think.

  Watch the auction and you can get them NIB under $800(30-06 or 45/70)

  I dunno, for that kind of money I would expect barrels that aren't pitted on the outside and I wouldn't call what looks like plier marks and ball peen hammer hits "minor handling marks".
  Hairline crack in the stock and minor water damage ? I would be nervous about the wood on the butt stock and I'm never impressed with any firearm that the seller feels it necessary to point out that it has "an excellent synthetic buttplate". Kinda like describing a used car as having "real cloth covered seats".
  Personally, I think it's way over priced but in line with the sellers other auctions (all of which appear to be way over priced also).
  I would think you could do better IMHO.

  IMHO look at the VALMET 412 or 512 This Is an over /under not side by side However the big advantage is you can adjust the point of impact to regulate the barrels to different weight bullets ETC. also these guns are made in double Rifle or double shotgun or one shot barrel & one rifle barrel along with this you can have as many barrel sets as you want. One of mine has 4 barrel sets. pictures on request. My share picture web site when out of business I can't find another one that I can work. to post here.
