Question about the Browning Model 53
Does anyone know if the Browning Model 53, made in 1990, could be bought with a full length magazine. I have only seen one in this configuration & don't know if it is original or someone changed it. Thanks for any information. Howsand@aol.com

I have only seen two and they were both gunsmith conversions to get the 10 rounds typical of a CAS rifle string of fire.
Never heard of a factory version.0 -

Thank you very much, that is what I figured. I would guess this would lower the value, much like sling swivel studs & side scope or sight, mounts.0 -
The Browning 53 was a copy of the Winchester 53. They all have 1/2 magazines. It is the same action that is used in the 1892.

You should be able to tell where the barrel hanger is installed. and the shade and condition of Magazine tube. 0 -
Has to be original as the hangar is at the barrel end and there is no filled in dovetail where the hangar for a shorter mag tube would be.

The factory Browning Model 53 has a button magazine with no hanger and therefore no dovetail to fill.
This rifle's full magazine hanger is much closer to the muzzle than Winchester ever did it so I think it a gunsmith job.0 -

Since this is not an ORIGINAL Winchester Model 53, made in New Haven CT, it has not much collector value anyway. Just as a shooter, but those made in Japan Model 1892 actions are silky smooth, and lots of folks, including myself like them, especially compared to the South American clones(garbage).
