Savage Fox 410 B SE Series H
I'm looking at buying one of these and am trying to get educated. I looked at other posts here and learned a bit. I've found some with a gold colored emblem on the stock grip, some with a black colored piece and others that are all wood. Also different checkering on both the stock and foregrip. Can anyone tell me if the differences have any big affect on value? Other than that difference they are all in almost new condition. Thanks.

The .410 Savage BSE were few in number and because of the guage very expensive considering they were just a Stevens .410. For $500 - $600 you can find a good Stevens with a walnut stock if you look awhile. The BSE has a vent rib but it is attached with screws while the Stevens has a solid rib which I find more attractive. The last BSE I personally saw for sale was a firm $1100 so I'd rather have two 1950's Stevens than the BSE. The later Stevens had hardwood stocks but they aren't all that bad for shooting. 0 -

I'm sure your series H has a serial number which was started by the GC act of 1968. I think Savage discontinued the 311/B/BSE/around 1989. The small numbers on the frame started in 1949 with "A" and ended with "W" in 1969. Obviously the "C"on yours means something else.These small .410's were such a bargain in the 60's and 70's that it's unfortunate they weren't recognized as such. We were definitely not as affluent back then. When I'd buy a used one for $60 it meant no more guns for 3 or 4 months. 0
