Goldenrod?

Hi, I bought another safe and need another Goldenrod. I have a question for you guys. Does the watts really matter? The goldenrod which I need to order online since nobody local carries them is 18 watts for an 18". The other brands I see in the local stores range anywhere from 8-12 watts for an 18". I use goldenrods in my other safes, with no problems. I would like one now, but would wait if the watts makes a differance. I'm thinking the 18 watts will produce more heat making it better. I see Goldenrods cheaper model is only 12 watts for 18". PS 18"is the largest I can fit. I have an extra 24", but that is exactly the size across the bottom and it won't fit.

  Would the 24" work if you hung it vertically, if there is room?

  They tell you to mount them horizontal and as close to the floor as you can

  Get two of the 18 incher's and put one on each side, and feed them from a power strip.

  I would go with the goldenrod. Yes more wattage makes more heat, but you are not trying to heat up the safe, just have a small temperature differencial inside the safe. Which if it is by the door works best...warmer air goes up and cooler air goes down causing a slow air circulation in the safe which prevents moisure in the safe from settling on the metal and causing rust.

  Thanks, ordered the 18". I have seen guy complain about the cheaper ones if you ready the review, they say they didn't work for them. My basement is really humid and I never had a problem with the larger safe with the 24". However I wnet to the 36" in that one just to be safe.
