Ruger P95/Hornady
Will the ruger p95 handle hornady's Critical defense 9mm without jamming? The reason I ask is yesterday a friend and I went to the range to fire my brand new p95 and he was shooting a S&W double action hammerless 9mm. We both shot four clips and everything went great. He then fired a clip with Hornady critical defense loads, and his s&w jammed so bad on the second shot he couldn't open the slide. Is this typical a hollow point problem in semi-autos or just the Hornady because they are shorter than other 9mm?
Any help would be great since I also bought some criticl defense ammo.

You should have no problem with the critical defense loads. Them Ruger's are well known to feed ANYTHING. Usually the Hornady ammo runs thru anything too, slicker than silk thongs, but every now and again you run accross a bad situation. It could be magazine(they are not CLIPS, they are magazine's) related, or the S&W, most likely a Sigma series pistol. I have a Glock 19, and that is all I run in it, is the Hornady Critical defense.

The P 95 Ruger is a sweet 9mm 9x19 luger...
It will fire anything in its caliber.
Highly reliable and durable.
More bang for your buck than euro hyped over priced...0 -
I use the Hornady's in a Ruger LCP in .380 and a Llama 1911 9mm and never a jam. They should feed as well as fmj's. I'd hazard a guess it would be gun. I had a P95 that ran 100% with anything I fed it. 0 -
My friend got his S&W apart. The Hornady shell was not damaged but was 0.5 " too large just near the extractor groove. He checked all of his other Hornady 9mm CD and found two more that won't fit in the barrel. When he bought the gun used the dealer said it was a very tight gun. He now wants to sell the S&W and buy a Ruger P95. We put the two oversized shells in my P95 barrel and they fit fine.
This reminds me when I used to reload for trap using Federal paper 12ga shells. One reload was all I got, AA's reload until there not enough case to crimp the end!0 -
