how do you break down the automag II 22 mag
is it like the 1911[?]

Put the safety on first, then pull the slide lock lever like on a 1911. Put the safety off and pull the slide off.
DON'T LET THE EJECTOR COME OUT, the slide holds it in [;)]

and sometimes they don't break down to "easy" as it should be.

Drop the mag, lock slide back.
Using your left hand (while holding slide with thumb and forefinger of right hand), pop the little disassembly pin/lever out of the right side of the frame. With your third hand, wiggle the pin until it comes out.
Slowly release the slide forward off the frame.
Re-assembly is a little tougher.
