Looking at colt, pretty pricy,but i like.
Auto ord, para ord, rock il. any suggestions?

  What do you want to do with it? How good does it need to shoot? Making it reliable is fairly cheap, having it shoot little groups at the same time cost more, sometimes a lot more.

  It all depends on what you are looking for, or what you wish to do with it. If you are looking for a retro to the original 1911, then Colt is the way to go.

  Plain Jane Military? Springfield Armory. Had one, the G.I. model, back in the 90's and it was true to form with exception of factory lowered ejection port-- handled anything put up the spout. Accuracy very decent and priced to go with, way lower than Colt. Was exactly what I wanted and very happy with it.
  
  However, just now looking in their on-line catalog it is now called "Mil-Spec" model with more minor changes. Still, worth looking into.

  I have a springfield "loaded" 45 that I bought about ten years ago and I've been very happy with it. Very reliable AND accurate. I recently bought a ATI FX Titan, made in the Philipines. It's an officers size, with 3.1" barrel and 7 rd magazine and I must say, I'm very impressed with it. Shooting 230gr at 15yds, it was quite accurate and functioned flawlessly. There's some nice 1911's coming out of the Philipines these days and they're priced right. I paid $479 for mine from a local dealer, but I've seen the on gunbroker for as low as $439. Something to consider.
