CMP Query--2
THX all for the positive input. I'll hopefully stop by. What will I need to purchase, and walk out the door with a Garand etc. Club affiliation, birth certificate, My own FFL, passport? I have all of these. Did I forget money.

IF, by any chance, you are retired military, take yer ID- you just met the "involved in shooting" criteria.
I am a retired officer- that ALSO meets the citizenship requirement. FFL not needed.0 -
Let's see; Proof of Citizenship and Proof of Age Requirements will be covered by your birth certificate.
Member of Affiliated Organization - you said that you've got that covered.
Marksmanship or Other Firearms Activity - your FFL takes care of that.
Background Check - that's the standard NICS check, done on the spot.
Looks like you're good. Here's a link if you have more questions: http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/eligibility.htm .
Good luck. I've bought from the CMP many times over the years and have NEVER been disappointed.0 -
I have 2 CMP Garands; a "field grade" HRA and a "service grade" Springfield. Both are good shooters, especially the Springfield. I had some trouble with the HRA occasionally doubling but I bought a replacement trigger on the auction side and, at the range the other day, all seems to be fine. I would recommend the service grade--they are a little nicer. While you're there you might pick up some ammo. That Greek M2 ball is pretty good stuff. 0 -
+1 on the spring fields being great & extremely accurate shooters.
Look over the site thoroughly b4 going...0
