.30 T/C

Does any one have any experience with the .30 T/C. I am looking to get an Icon and would like any good constructive comments. I haven't even had the chance to handle one, but really like the concept.

    Well, I asked a very reputable fellow that a few weeks or a month or so ago. I have a chance to get the wood/blued ones for 399.99 each, which is a heck of a deal. I have some aspiring young shooter's/hunter's coming up that belong to some friends of mine. One is soon to be 5, the other's are 11 and 14. So here is what the low down is.

    It is a great cartridge, but so is the 30-06, 308 Winchester, and 300 Savage. I is a high efficiency/high output round, that revolves around Hornady's revolutionary, and proprietary blend of powders, that no one has duplicated for handloader's. That means that you can handload for it, but most likely will not get factory performance. So if you can get a great price on the rifles, go for it.

    So here is what I done...I got 4 rifles(one for uncle tsr1965 too[:D]), 2 cases of ammunition, 1000 rounds of brass, and 4 sets of dies...they will have to use their dad's reloading presses, or get their own...or just come see me.

    So there you have the low down on it.

    I have no experience with the 30 T/C but I have an Icon rifle. It is a really good buy for that price. I really like the milled receiver for attaching a rifle scope.

    I dont reload at the present and I saw that Hornady has just released the superpreformance powder, that being said let me know if you find anymore for that price, they are crazy high on GB.

    I've got more nice, scoped deer rifles than I have hunting seasons left in my life. The 30TC ICON chambered in a "WeatherShield" finish with Hogue stock is one of them.

    After sighting it in along with a few others last fall, I decided to use it during the November season because it was much more accurate than my Kimber, Weatherby, Ruger,Remington and Sako bolt guns. Honestly, it is as accurate as a couple of my Rifles Inc. customs.

    It's a tad heavier than some, but it really has some nice features. And, I kinda like the quirky appearance of it. Sighted in to zero at 200 yds with the 150gr Hornadys, I was getting 1.5" groups. Some at 100 yds were only one third that size. A few other shooters tried it with similar results.

    The big Kentucky 11 pointer I took at 50 feet didn't have the chance to be impressed with the long range accuracy of the ICON.

    Hopefully, the ICON 22-250 I have on the way will be just the ticket for the area coyotes.

    By giving my nephew that press I got from gunnut505 last month means I now have access to a really good press out in Nevada when I go there.[;)]

    As far as a lot of these cut down efficiency rounds are concerned, I think they have a lot of merit. I see it from a reloader and development point of view though. John Q. Public tends to view it as, "Why would I replace the .308, 30-06, (insert cartridge here)." Given time and experimentation, plus all the wonderful new powders out there, reloaders will be able to duplicate or at least maximize the loads, to their needs. And from what I've seen the Icons are really nice rifles.
