AMT automag II
Hey guys,
I puchased an amt automag II from my father and the gun jams up like there is no tommorow usually every other round. I have been told to try different ammo, I have tried every 22 mag shell I can find in it it seems to run best off of cci maxi mag v. I was also told there is a feed ramp problem but the person who told me this has never looked at the pistol. I was wondering if this is a common proble with AMT's or if the problem is just not hot enough ammunition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

just got a AMT automag II 22 mag with 6" bbl
95-98% condition
don't know how to post pics. or i would. but
my question is if it would bring more money cause the serial # is #1 [:0] . ran into this one today [:)]could email someone with pic. if you wanted to see it never had a #1 gun before

Well, if it would bring more money, that would be a plus, but most of those were/are real pesimystic about what ammunition they will shoot. They did not contribute to the company staying alive and well. The only decent, reliable weapons they had were their Ruger 10-22, and Mark II's

A while back the son of the AMT was selling his fathers #1 and "X" guns. I thing they were experimental? Personally only thing I liked from them were the .44 Automags. But I figured they were the Desert Eagal of their time. Cool on the silver screens but that's about it. You know since early stainless guns were known to gall.
As for your #1 I think you might make more money on that number. Since there are those #1 collectors out there but they tend to want the box, paper work and what ever else comes with in the original box at the time of original purchase.0 -
Boxes and accessories are a nice thing for any gun, but a ser #1 gun is the holy grail for collectors. You just need to find a guy who collects Automags. A ser #1 gun would likely bring twice or more the Blue Book price.
I met a guy about a year ago who had just got a ser #1 Smith handgun and payed an enormous amount for it.0 -
I'd pay more for an AMT that worked. Poor quality control and lack of understanding materials is my view of amt. Be fun to know what it brings. 0 -

I have a couple AutoMag IIIs and one AutoMag II. IIRC, the II didn't like one brand/type of ammo I tried, but does fine with everything else. No recollection of what didn't work. Other than that, have not had any problems with any of them, but I do keep them wet.0 -
Noah, Where was your AMT built?
I have a Houston built HS Automag II, and I love it!
Mine is # 150, #1 would be an excellent score, no matter which of the various companies produced it.0 -

it was built by AMT in Irwindale CA. Just cuorious as to what the
letters mean or stand for.how do you pull up the Twopapa listings ,
i can't seem to get past the catogories section.maybe i can shoot
him an e-mail and ask him,if he knows anything about the
stamping.thanks 55840.

AMT stands for "Arcadia Machine Tool"
To search for auctions by seller, go to main page click on "advanced" on right side of search bar, then select "by seller" in box on left. Then type the sellers name in the open box and click search.0
