I would steer clear of it unless you could have it checked by a pro prior to purchase. The receiver might possibly have been made by welding scraped out M I receivers back together, or inferior foreign made investment castings. Magnafluxing and Rockwell testing would be required to ascertain the quality and safety of the receiver.

Instead of springing $800 for a questionable Fed Ord Tanker Model get one of the ones that SA is making and selling now. Even though it will be more expensive.

    There is no such thing.

Federal Ordinance made an "M14 rifle" that was a clone of the US M14 rifle, & they made an "M1 tanker" that was a clone of the prototype of the unissued shortened version of the US M1 Rifle (Garand).

But, your question is moot; Fed Ord quality was so poor that neither rifle is worth buying.

If you are talkng about the M14 clone

The first 9000 were made with USGI parts and were OK.

The USGI parts are worth more than $800.
