Winchester 95 rear sight
I've encountered a model 1895 Winchester which appears a good deal. It has an obvious replacement rear sight. What type of sight (dovetail mounted on barrel) do I need to get this 95 to original condition.

Different kinds were utilized, depending on the model. Here is one of them. It's a buckhorn. It has a male dovetail in the forward portion that engages the corresponding female dovetail in the barrel.

You might consider a factory letter on your 95. That way you could stand a better chance to get the proper one. I always like that funny looking Lyman reciever sight myself. 0 -
I have my grandad's model 95 30-06, it came with that old Lyman receiver sight. I like the sight myself, and alot of 95s came with it.

Thanks for the pic and advice. Yes, I've seen the Lyman 21 , and some are still available. As for the Buckhorn style, can anyone tell me if the mounting dovetail is the same size as that used for 94, 92, etc.? 0
