Leupold scope mounts....poor quality now?
hello all, well...i am setting up the marlin 336 my wife got me for christmas with a leupold vx-1 2-7 gloss scope and leupold steel std base and low rings...i have this set up on many of my deer carbines. today i finaly got some alone time to put it together and as i degreased the base and screws and did the dry fit i noticed the base did not sit flush on the receiver, apon further examination i noticed the base seems to be warped...I am very suprised, having used dozens of leupold mounts over the years i got a bad one. another thing i noticed is that the current production leupold std mounts DONT HAVE MADE IN THE USA on the package anymore, i had an older package that has it. are they made in china crap like all the others now?

did they come from wally world?? this is where MFG'S ditch the factory seconds. 0 -
Sad if true. Have called or emailed L. to ask about a replacement? 0 -
I'm not a Wally world fan, but I find it hard to beleive companies send their second the Wally world. The product may not be speced the same and while the package looks the same. I bet most times doen't carry the same item number if you check. Electronics are a great example of this. If you see something at WW really cheap. Check the item number and try and find it elsewhere. Good luck, I bet WW speced it out cheap, so they could sell it cheap. 0 -
Don't know whether they are still around but I used nothing but "Dednutz Prod." single piece made out of aircraft alum. NEVER had a problem. They were in N.C. somewhere. Good luck 0 -

I was not impressed by those either. The ones I saw were on a Browning X-Bolt. It could have been the way the hammer jockey shop had set them up, but the scope's objective lens bell was touching on the barrel. The kid was from NC, and said the shop he frequents set it up like that.

After almost an hour on hold with thier tech line i got a teck on the phone, i said i had a problem with a standard base and that was followed by a quick annoyed sounding "whats wrong with it' well, i told him the base was warped and not sitting flat on the receiver and he said ' just screw it down and it will straiten out...it happens" and its normal on one piece bases in some cases. I was not pleased with that and told him that its out of spec and needs to be replaced, he said ship it back and we will straighten it out for you...doubt it needs to be replaced. I purchased the mount NIP from gander mountain so out of discust i drove the 79 miles north to my local store, thay game me a new one on the spot and said they will deal with them.
The tech also swore that thier mounts are mAde here even though they stopped putting the made in the USA logo on almost all thier products. Hmmmm[V]0
