Sight unseen it's kind of rough, what shape is the bore in? For a shooter grade maybe $200/$300.

Considering the big box stores and on-line dealers are blowing out new Stevens/Savages for close to that, I personally wouldn't go over $200.

Do a chamber cast if you get it, making sure it's still 8mm, hasn't been rechambered to 7.62 x 51/.308 Win.

    CSI21,

Without sharp, detailed photographs, putting a value on a rifle such as this is nearly impossible because of the variables of the condition. You could try the Auction side to see what the current crop of K98s has sold for to get an idea. Be sure to view the photographs supplied with the ad and make sure that the rifle has 'sold' because the asking prices can be misleading.

I don't bother to attempt a comparison to modern rifle prices since the two aren't really comparable. One is a piece of military history while the other is just a bargain basement rifle.

    Best.

Sounds like a Russian Capture, look for a X stamped on the receiver ring. It that's what it is, most have good bores, and there are not anymore being imported. Prices have jumped to the $300-$350 range.

I bought a Russian capture K98 years ago, if it has an import name/mark

on the side of the upper barrel the value would be $250 retail.

With matching serial numbers and no import mark than value goes much

higher as it could be a veteran bring back, or imported before that

    requirement. IMO $500 +
