a nice colt trooper on GB #268342010
can you tell if it is the original blueing
is the starting price good &
what do the original grips/stocks look like and inter-change with.
and is this the one that has the same action as the python[?]

  I do not believe the Trooper has been reblued, I see no evidence, but the frame may have had cold blue applied in a few spots or it might just be a photo anomaly.
  
  This Trooper dates to 1967 and since it is in the target configuration it should have target stocks that some collectors call the smiley face stocks because of the curve in the checkering under the medallions. Here is my 1961 Trooper with its original stocks; they are also the correct stocks for a 1967 Trooper. The problem with buying a Trooper of that vintage that doesn't have its correct stocks is you might have to pay upwards of $200 for a pair of nice, correct stocks.

  The starting price is way high for that Trooper; in my opinion it is about a $350-$375 gun.
  
  These early Troopers had an action that, in my opinion, is about as good as the Python, personally, I can't tell much difference, they are very smooth. However, the very high quality Model 357 revolver was the predecessor of the Python. The Python is essentially the Model 357 with a ribbed and shrouded barrel, a more tuned action, and Royal Blue finish. The 357 is often called a poor man's Python.
