Model 70 Deluxe from 60's & 70's
These were very handsome rifles with AAA Wood! They listed in the $350 range...They looked better than Super Grades! I have only seen a FEW of these...They had real Ebony wood forend tips. They were made in 30-06,270,243,300 Win Mag & 256 Win. Made in mid 60's til around 1971. Does anyone know about how many were made? Or...ANYTHING else about them??? THANKS!!!!

blue book says The Model 70 Deluxe was redesignated the Standard Model 70 in 1972. 0 -
don't know how many were made , but i have one in 243 and it is 1 good looking piece of wood and metal,
open sights and i have a zeiss on top

I have one in 270, my dad bought it used in 1979. It has been my go to deer rifle for more than 20 years, shoots better than any pre 64 270 I own.

I have a few of the Deluxe that you are talking about. They came in more calibers than you listed. The one at the bottom of the picture is a 22-250 and they came in 338, 375 H&H and other calibers also. 
edit#1 I have been collecting the deluxe model 70 for close to 40 years and over those years Winchester has had different versions of the deluxe model. Most of the ones I own have the boxes with them and each says deluxe model 70. In the picture you can see the differences between the guns. Look at the 5th and 6th ones down from the top. Winchester has some that were not catalogued and some were not sold here in the US only overseas. I have some of both.0 -

The Deluxes had checkered forearms totally around the forearm...if any Model 70 had divisions on the forearm of checkering/plain wood...they are NOT deluxes! Besides the checkering...The Deluxes all had AAAA Wood and real grained ebony tips on the forend not black plastic or wood. I am not aware that Deluxes were made OTHER than the calibers I mentioned. These guns were NOT cheap at the time...they sold for the same price as Weatherby's...and about $200 more than the Standard grade. They also had a special rubber recoil pad on the non-magnum calibers. 0 -
Interesting topic. I bought a deluxe in 1977 that a guy bought in 1965 or 66, he couldn't remember. Shot it 6 times to sight it in, and never shot it again. It had all the paperwork/tags/booklets with it, but no box (was in a beautiful leather case). It is 30-06 and doesn't have a recoil pad or an ebony forend. It does have beautiful wood.
It is a tack driver and I have killed many many critters with it over the years in my job. I wouldn't take $$$$ for it.
Not that it matters to me (or would it have then for the price), but what else could this be, if not a deluxe? The picture on the deluxe brochure it came with didn't have an ebony forend or recoil pad on it either....0
