I had some done years ago and you can send them directly. I'm not sure I'd want to do that to a Python though.

The genuine Mag Na Port company does qualify for you to ship directly to them and for them to ship directly back to you, NOT needing an FFL intermediary, under federal law. You should check your state and municipal laws though. Some states may have a requirement that all shipments pass through an FFL. (Nevada does NOT!)
They did a M29 Smith and Wesson for me and I must say the quality of the work was flawless. I would recommend them for any handgun. I have never used them for a long gun. [:D]

As has been stated, some state laws requier a FFL transfer on your end of the deal. There are many shops now that have EDM machining of ports. IMHO, EDM is the only way to do this correctly, so it does not leave a burr on the inside of your bore.

IMHO, I would avoid this on your Python. You will cut the value in HALF if not more by doing this.

Ive owned both the Python and a S&W 629 for years. Recently, full power loads started to make my wrists hurt. I dont mind the flash or noise but the muzzle jump hurts. I dont want to ruin the value on the Python so Im thinking lower bullet weight and less than max loads. I'll try the same with the 629 and see if I need to magnaport. Thanks for the help.

I'd reckon if the Pyton is minty or 95% no, I wouldn't port her. Now if you don't care about collectability go for it.
