Golden Rod / Gun safe dehumidifier working??
How can you tell if your Golden Rod dehumidifier is working or not? I've had mine for about 3 years and would like to check/make sure it's working.
Thanks for any test and or info you might have.

Take it out of your safe for about 45 days...that will tell you if it is making a difference. Outside of that, I keep my safe in a controlled environment, and keep a dehumidifier in my gun/reloading room.

You can order a small dessicant pack from Brownell's for your safe, & see how often it needs to be "recharged".

Yea, when it quits getting warm its broke.0 -
Touch it. If it is warm to the touch it is working. Mine is still working after 20 years. 0 -

Ditto on both units of mine - According to what i have read the small amount of heat generated by the rod causes the internal temp inside the vault to be 3 to 5 degrees F warmer inside vs the ambient temp outside the vault which causes the moisture vapors in the air inside the vault to dissipate, protecting the items inside.....Mark0 -
