Savage Arms Model 6A, .22 Rifle
Gentlemen,
I recently aquired a Savage Arms .22 Semi-Auto rifle, Model 6A (.22 short, long & long rifle, tube fed). I would like to know if there is any way to identify the year it was made. other than a small heart with the number 6 following that, there is no serial number anywhere that I can see. It is in almost excellent condition with the exception of a small hairline crack in the stock, barely visible. I have read that these were produced between 1930 & 1950. If anybody can help me identify it I would appreciate it.

W/no serial number, not a chance. Even with a serial the chances would be extremely remote. With a history of factory fires and changes of ownership, record keeping on older Savage guns is in a dismal state. 0 -
Actually there is a number preceding the patent number which reads: 2094577. Could this be a serial number? 0 -
My Blue book doesn't list a 6A. The 6 was made 1938-68. Prewar had checkered stock, post-war plain. 6S had aperture sight 1938-42. I think there are folks here about that have better info. 0
