W. Scott and Sons 8 gauge
Hi folks, I have a W. Scott and Sons single barrel breach loading 8 gauge shotgun with a hammer you cock-back. It has a side lever which goes under the receiver to open the action-you push down on it with your right thumb to open the action, 32" barrel, bead front sight, engraving everywhere over the receiver and trigger guard, 3 1/4" chamber, 14 1/2" length of pull, butt stock inlay of some kind of metal-could be gold-I do not know, a number 6 or 9 stamped on the underside of the barrel along with some proof marks on it and 1 visible on the receiver that would be hidden by the barrel. It appears to have walnut or some dark hardwood butt stock-nice grain, and it takes down by removing a pin in the forearm. It is not a high grade shotgun, but it is pretty neat!

There were two Scott companies with trademarks varying over time as sons came into the businesses.
I see W. Scott and Sons as being made between 1869 and 1875.
Some earlier guns marked W.C. Scott and Son.
They likely sold some Belgian made guns along with their own manufacture. What are the proof marks?
W AND C Scott was the other company which was amalgamated into Webley and Scott.0
