    It means nothing.

If you buy a gun made by a company in the Philippines, you take your chances. In any case, front sights with a tenon are not user replaceable; just take your gun to a gunsmith & pay him to order & install whatever sights you want. And, as with sex change surgery, there is no going back if you aren't happy.

Put no stock in most all manufacturers use of the term 'Mil Spec'. It's the most misused, abused and misunderstood statement you'll find within the firearms industry.

Right or wrong, it's common practice that if only a part or two is produced to elements of US military standards the complete firearm is marketed as being Mil Spec.

The rule of thumb is that if the manufacturer never produced that completed firearm for the US military it's not going to be full milspec.

I have that identical 1911 9mm. Bought it to have fun with and easier on my arthric hands.Wish now I had just spent a little more and got a Ruger 1911. The upgrade in sights is worth that much, not even considering the stainless aspect. But then you are back in a 45.

I am just going to shoot mine. have fun and let it remind me that you get what you pay for.

Replacing sights on a 1911 is usually not easy. There is little consistency in the size and shape of the dove tail cuts. For most of us it requires the services of a professional gunsmith.

There are so many reasonably priced 1911s these days, if you don't like the factory sights, I'd suggest looking at other guns. I would not purchase assuming it's easy to fix that problem.

It would be a lot simpler to get the RIA Tactical 9mm with better sights.

After the holiday call the customer service reps at Brownells. They have a large inventory of 1911 sights. Being that the RI/Armscor 1911's, have become so popular in recent years. I'm sure they will have many different factory and aftermarket sights, for them.

I own two of the Armscor Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical 9 mm pistols.

I did a lot of research on them before commiting any $$$ to buy the first one.

Before 2000, their firearms were "scetchy" as they were built by hand and had "fitment" problems. The son took over operations around 2000 and converted the manufacturing process with new CNC equipment, and basicly overhauled the whole company.

As for the "mil-spec" sights, they are the basic notch rear sight and post front sight which (for the lack of a better term) are what a GI 1911 got to begin with. The have NO dots on them at all.

I called Armscor in Nevada ( https://us.armscor.com/contact-us/us-contacts ) and was told that they could install night sites for $180 ($80 in loabor and $100 for the sights). The night sites are Meprolite Night Sites and I ABLOLUTELY love them.

I haven't as yet had night sights put on the second Armcor Tactical 9 mm 1911 YET but I plan to.

I'd like to comment (give MY opiniion) of the Armcor Rock Island 1911 pistols.

They are the least expensive of any good quality 1911.

The two Tactical 9 mm 1911's I have came with the following parts standard: ambidextrous safety, beaver tail safety, ported ejection port, commader hammer, scalloped trigger, and wood panel stocks. It cost $550 including the FFL fee! AND it came with a DVD that instructs one on how to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and re-assemble a 1911 pistol (something that I DIDN'T get with my Para Ord P14!).

I see that Armcor has upgraded the Tactical pistols with (what look like) Meprolight Night Sights as a standard feature and fancy stocks! https://us.armscor.com/products/tac-1911-ii-ms-9mm I looked on GunBroker and they're selling for around $650 which right in line with what I have in mine with the night sights.

PS: I also installed a Hogue Wrap Around Rubber grip on both my Armscor 1911's which give a much better purchase for me anyway.

PPS: I found that ALL aftermarket parts (barrel, sear, disconnector, trigger, springs, etc.) fit right into their pistols. I also found that Wilson Combat 9 mm SS magazines work 100% in them too!
