taurus pt 1911 trigger pull question
my son recently traded a nice working pt1911 that had an accessory rail on it for another one that did not have the rail. he hated the rail. the "new" one has a horrible trigger pull, feels like about 8 lbs. or maybe more. looked on the net and did not see a spring kit available for this particular gun. will a kit from wolf for a colt 1911 work? thanks

If it is similar to a conventional 1911 platform internally? The trigger/sear/hammer interface. Has more affect on trigger pull, than just changing out springs will get you. 8 lbs is way out of spec, for any 1911 platform. Nowadays though, with all bottom feeding lawyers running things. It might be the way it came from the factory.
If one of our posters can't help? Go on-line to find out if the Taurus's internals, are the same as a conventional 1911's? If so, you might be better off getting a aftermarket dropin trigger/sear/hammer kit from Brownells.0 -
Perhaps bubba already did a trigger job on the pistol. Then again could be crappy right from the factory. New parts "correctly fitte" might fix it, but a real pistol smith could likely correct it without new parts unless bubba really got to them.
De-burring the edges of parts is easy and usually safe for a beginner. Lighting coil springs is easier than tuning flat springs. Stoning the notch on the hammer and sear face is a lot more challenging, correcting/changing the angles or engagement is way more tricky. Lots easier to polish more off than to put it back.

I have a Taurus pt1911, all parts will interchange with standard 1911's with the exception of the firing pin block parts. after removing a small handful of these parts and a little spring work I got a nice crisp 3 lb. trigger pull. Is this something for the 'novice' to do......nope, you should be well versed in the workings of the 1911 to attemp this. 0 -
Wolff does sell springs for Taurii. But, they are not cheap, & you don't really know which will work reliably unless you get several in varying weights. So, you can get $30 into this, & that may not be your problem at all.
It will cost you at least that much if you buy replacement parts.
I think this is one of those times where a good 1911 'smith can earn his money. He will have a fitting jig, spare springs & parts, & the knowledge to figure out exactly what is needed.

Be Aware and beware the Sear, disconnector, Hammer , and Safety
all interact with each other you start swapping parts and you may end up with a pistol that has a safety that will fail. you cock the hammer squeeze the trigger and nothing happens so you smile take the safety off but with your finger off the trigger and Bang [V][xx(] or you load a magazine and pull the trigger and BRAPPPPP pistol goes full auto. Be careful.0
