Winchester 1876 C&R elligible
Maybe I'm going blind in my old age, but I could NOT find the Winchester 1876 listed on the BATF C&R list. I would assume they stopped producing them more than 50 years ago.
Does BATF consider them a subspecies of the 1873?
Or are they considered antique (pre 1898), so not C&R eligible?
Thanks

I'm thinking they are per 1898. 0 -
They're all legally antiques, made before 1898. Winchester folded them, when the John Browning designed smokeless guns were such a success. 0 -
Pre-1899 (not 1898) firearms are exempt from all Federal Firearms laws but may fall under certain state or local laws, such as New Jersey or NY City. 0 -
The last 42 rifles were made in 1898, so they are all "Antiques". 0 -
Thanks you all for the replies. I suspected that was the case, but good to know for certain. 0
