Zeiss Prismatic
Hello All,
Does anyone known of a link for Zeiss 1905 Prismatic scope and rings? I believe it was a 20-30's era sniper set-up but unsure for which rifle(s). Thank you.
Jim

I don't think the Germans were building any sniper Rifles in the 1920's
more likely air rifles and 22LR.0 -
The standard reference for old scopes is, "Old Rifle Scopes", by Nick Stroebel.
He lists a Prismatic Model of 1905. It was the first scope that Carl Zeiss made. It was the Zeiss, the Germans used during the First World War. If original, and in Very Good condition. Quite Valuable.0 -
To be for specific, I found what I think are rings used with that scope. I figured if I found scope info, there may be something on the rings as well. Stroebel shows the one pic of scope and rings in Old Gunsights & Rifle Scopes but no info in the mount section or in his Old Rifle Scopes edition. They've got qd dovetail bases. 0 -

During the time frame that the Zeiss Prismatic scope was used. Mounts and rings were custom made. If I'm understanding you correctly? You have the rings only? Without any markings, going to be difficult.
Although according to Strobel, the scope was only made for about 10 years. The rings could have been fabbed years later by a gunsmith.0 -
Most scopes of that vintage were CLAW mounts that were quick detach to the receiver but permanently attached to the scope tube itself many on Drillings and such look at Drillings as a search here on GunBroker and see if any thing looks like what you have. 0 -
Look anything like this:

Yes, it's the rings only. They look hand fabbed only because the qd levers aren't exact matches nor are there makers marks. Outside of that, they look nice. Nothing in the "drillings" listings. Do you know the rifle they may have been used on? 0
