    I bought this:

    http://www.GunBroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=451869408

The serial number is 371020, that is above what the chart lists but I found other sources that said Rock Island made some receivers into the 1920's.

bpost: My reference indicates your rifles receiver was made in 1919.

My OP was about Remington 1903's. I am curious about Remington's early production and wondering if anyone has a rifle in the low 3,000,000 range.

The history of these old rifles, like other WWII veterans, is fading away.

v35: Your rifles receiver would have been manufactured around 11/43 and is an 03-A3. Remington produced these rifles into the 4,209,000 serial number range with 7,000 or so 03-A4's having serial numbers in the 4,99x,xxx range.

Again, my question was about Remington 1903's in the low 3,000,000 range.

Not a collector item but quite the shooter. It's one of few rifles I started my sons with.

FEENIX: Your rifles receiver would have been made in 12/43 (per Joe Poyer's book) and would have been among the last of the 1903 (modified) made. The 1903-A3 was phased in that month and in that serial number range. Remington made no separation of serial numbers between 1903's and 03-A3's.

And Hangfire: Your receiver dates to 11/43 and is a 1903 (modified). I have #3285588 made the same month. Again, per the above book. I bought mine around 1960 and paid $35, too. That must have been the going rate then.

Thank you, gentlemen, for your responses; not exactly what I was looking for but interesting nonetheless.

    I've got two Remington Modifieds; S/N's 3138731 and 3336462.

Always have liked 03 rear sights vs. the 03a3 sights.

They are the two to the left of the first 03a3.
