Win. Mod. 97
I have a "solid frame" 1923-1924. V.G. cond't. Does a solid frame bring more value? Also the neck of the stock is fine checkered?? Replacement? Thanks

What is the serial number prefix? I'm thinking it should be a C.
I have a C series solid frame, they are uncommon.
I'm thinking 95% of the value is still in condition, condition, condition. The solid frame may help a sale, if the gun is as nice as you say it is.
I would wonder about the checkering on the stock, whether or not it is factory.

The partial serial number indicates that it is a 1920 production gun. With a complete serial number, I can get quite some bit closer.
By the year 1920, Take Downs were much more common with the exception of the Riot and Trench Guns, which were nearly all still solid frames.
In answer to your question, No, the solid frame Model 1897s very seldom ever bring more $ when everything else is the same.
I will need to see a clear picture of the checkering on the wrist of the butt stock to determine if it is original or not.0 -

Bert-I really appreciate your efforts and input. You have to keep in mind I'm older than dirt and have tried the photo route several times in the past with no avail. Again, I thank you. 0 -
