Browning a bolt mag?

The mags for browning a bolt rifles are marked for each caliber. I have a 25-06 and can see no reason as to why a 30-06 or .270 mag would not fit and function the same. I can buy a .270 mag right now for a very good price but I wanted to know if anybody here could tell me if it would function in a 25-06.

  I have some A-bolts but haven't tried switching magazines. Maybe my .243 and .257 would interchange. I do know that a friend had a .280 that had a .25/06 magazine in it when he got it. It didn't work very well until he got a magazine that was stamped .280.

  I think the smaller cartridges will work in the magazines for larger calibers, but the end, or nose piece is sized for the bullet size stamped on the magazine. Hence a 308 would not work in a 243, but the 243, 260, and 7mm-08 would work in the 308. Same goes for the 25-06, 270, 280, and 30-06.
