Is the receiver case colored and have a "B" prefix to the serial number?
Added: He's probably got a 1939 or early 40s 39A. No serial numbers exist for those years, however, the subject serial number is close to those found on 39A's for that time period.0 -

should be a 39 from the 20's and only used with standared ammo not high speed 0 -

I agree with you, something is not right for a marked 39A barrel with a number like that, could be a re-barrel on an older receiver or buffed out serial letters/digits ??????0 -

The serial number is on the receiver tang, under the lever [:0]0 -
