    Hello W.D.

    There are factory production records for only the first 353,999 Model 1894 rifles. Within that population approximately 11.3%, 40,023 rifles, were built in 32-40 caliber.

    As Michael pointed out, thre were just over 40,000 of them manufactured in the first 353,999 Model 1894s manufactured.

    Based on the current results of my research survey (for serial numbers 354,000 - 1158835) the total production for the 32-40 caliber was approximately 100,000, or 8.63%. Winchester discontinued the 32-40 as a standard cartridge option at the end of the year 1937. The year 1937 ended with serial number 1158835.

    For Model 1894 serial numbers 1 - 1,000,000, the verified and extrapolated caliber production totals are as follows;

    1. 30 W.C.F. = 541,709
    2. 32 W.S. = 135,076
    3. 38-55 = 131,091
    4. 32-40 = 95,123
    5. 25-35 W.C.F. = 90,199
