The top of the barrel is stamped with a W or M,correct?

  If all that's stamped on the barrel is a "W" sounds like a Winchester barrel.

  Which would mean that you have a carbine that has been rebuilt at least once, since Inland used only Inland barrels when they assembled carbines.
