They are made like a Series 70 Colt and yes regular 1911 parts work.

Are these things built to a standard 1911 blueprint? In other words, will other 1911 parts fit, or are they Ruger only parts? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Many of the Ruger parts aren't GI-standard (eg Ruger uses an internal extractor of its own design; the barrel has a notch cut in as a chamber loaded indicator, thumb safety plunger housing is integral to frame, etc), but every manufacturer of these has their own in-house "tweaks".

Apart from that sort of thing, so far as I can tell these are standard 1911s, built to standard dimensions and specs. Holes are in standard places, etc. People do customize these with all sorts of aftermarket parts.

Obviously, depending on part in question, some fitting may be necessary, but I don't think this should pose any real issue.

    Randy,
To my way of thinking, the SR1911 is the best 1911 on the market, dollar for dollar. There are at least 2 of them in the hands of our club members. Neither has ever had a hiccup, and shoot very well.
When I buy another 1911, it will be a Ruger.
    W.D.
