Rimfire benchrest target rifle
I am shopping for a rimfire target rifle.I hear that Anschutz,Rem. 40X. and Winchester 52d or E are good ones to choose from. Can anyone tell me which one is the most accurate, and what year of manufacture is best.

The best is depending on your budget and type of competition.
Look thru this web site if you want to be a winner you will be buying something from them.

As far as used I would look for a old model 54 action Anschutz, such as a 1407.
Even a cheaper model 64 Anschutz will get you in the ballpark.
Here is one hella deal...

Looks like it was chopped up for a lefty. so what???
most BR shooters change out the wood stocks any way.0 -
Any of the 3 would work great, but the Anschutz 54 action is the best of those you mentioned, look for a BR-50 for a out of the box shooter. There are also several custom actions that have incredibly fast lock times. The most cost efficient way to buy will be to find a rifle that is fully built, such as these:

I started out 20 years ago with a 52B with a Unertal, rebarrelled with a Douglas air-gauged, drilled and tapped for a T-36... point is have fun, and do what u can afford, 20 years ago I was paying OVER $100.00 for a brick of Eley, Federal UM1`.. just do what u can!! 0 -
WHEN YOU GET INTO THE BEST 1/2 DOZEN BRANDS AND MODEL RIFLE THEY ALL SHOOT ABOUT THE SAME GROUP SIZE .Now it becomes the ammo and the shooter being able to read the changing condition of lighting and wind. be aware each and every brand of ammo has LOT NUMBER on the box so one lot # might shoot better that another lot # in rifle Aa but exact opposite in rifle B try Champions shooters supply. as well as champions choice Both have great ammo and Champions Choice ask for HOMER He will let you buy a Brick of different lots to test on your rifle and then will most likely be able to sell you that same lot number when you find what one your rifle likes best. 0 -

For what discipline? Benchrest? 3 position?
OK, mea culpa...... Benchrest!
I shoot my Winchester 52C against Kimber 82's and an Anschutz, don't know the model but it cost $2600.
We take turns winning. Ammo is super critical. If it don't cost $20 a box then you lose! Anyway, the Anschutz is incredible but expensive.. the Kimbers shoot way better than the price would indicate, and my Winchester 52 sometimes beats either, but is hard to scope.
Myself, I'd buy a used BR rifle built on a custom action with a tuner.0 -
