irtuff,
quote:...empty brass will not eject. have to use cleaning (rod?) to force brass out.
1) Is the brass extracting (being pulled from the chamber)?
2) Or is not ejecting (being thrown from the action ejection port)?
#1 is the possibility that the extractor is broken or missing. Is the rim of the brass torn? Then the chamber might have a fault which needs attention.
#2 is the possibility that the ejector is stuck and needs to be removed for cleaning.

Bolt will lift but cannot be pulled back to eject, cleaning rod inserted from muzzle to force empty brass and bolt. [Originally posted by irtuff

You need to clean the chamber of the Remington. Be aware The cleaning of a rifle does NOTHING on the chamber. The chamber gets ome surface rust .upon firing case expands and rust grips the case so you Cant extract
the case from the chamber
EXTRACT = remove the case from the chamber case is still attached to bolt face.
EJECTION = the case at the end of bolt travel is pivoted out of the ejection port.
clean the chamber with a Mop or brush with 000 steel wool and KROIL
wrapped around the 45 acp brush0 -
irtuff,
It sounds like you have a problem in the chamber. Roughness or ring-like gouges from the chambering process may be holding onto the brass.
I suggest that you take the rifle to a gunsmith for a closer look with a 'scope to see where and what the problem is. It could be as simple as polishing the chamber or the chamber may be damaged enough to where it will have to be replaced.

Reloads? Possibly borderline pressures that are o.k. in one gun and not the other?
If reloads, what are your specs? Powder charge, OAL, primer, etc.0
