IMO it has been reblued since the S&W emblem looks like it has been washed out, however the rest of the lettering looks okay. It also looks like the grips have been refinished, especially on the lower left bottom. Thanks in advance.

Caveat Emptor. Personally I wouldn't sweat it. Somebody will wind up buying it, refinished or not. Cosmetics is a big thing, to some folks. Even if knowledgeable S & W collectors share your opinion. Others will bid it up, because it looks like the real McCoy. 0 -
That seller has had some high end Smith N frames, all have looked like the real deal to me. The above mentioned model 57, I think is also untouched. Look at the pictures again, I think it's the angle the picture is taken at that makes the logo look light.

toad67,
It looks ok to me when I look at the logo from the second angle they show. I did not see any box and/or paper's. You should be able to latch on to this for under a grand.

EDIT 1
BTW...EXCELLENT caliber!0 -
Sadly, the photos were not taken with diffuse lighting that doesn't wash out the details of the guns. But, I have to agree with the guys, the blue is likely original; had it been refinished, we wouldn't see the wear at the muzzle & recoil plate, & scratches on the cylinder.
I agree that the chipped stocks have been refinished, but the poor fit & lack of photos of the backs leads me to believe that they are not original to the gun.

The front bottom side plate screw has been removed with an incorrect ground screwdriver. More of an indication than a true fault. But always wonder why on a gun like this. 0 -
I have a NIB S&W 17 that has a light roll mark for the emblem so that alone would not necessarily indicate the gun was refinished. 0 -
I think it is righteous. I have seen similar S&W logo stampings on stainless revolvers, and I bought a 25-3 in similar condition from Locustfork. a couple of buggered sight screws were easily and quickly replaced. 0 -
Look at pic 27, it looks like there white in it at one time and it is getting washed out 0 -
Ditto on the buggered screw heads....no reason why??? 0 -
Very very nice... [:p] 0 -

There are two screw heads pictured, one does appear in less than prfect condition however I wouldn't call it "buggered". It happens to be the one that releases the cylinder, something folks tend to fiddle with while the other sideplate screw looks pristine.
The extractor star looks to be in excellent shape too. If the gun were a bit worn I'd expect to see wear on the ratchet teeth.
The sideplate stamp being a bit light doesn't concern me, I've seen them that way on guns bought new. Seeing the front sight blade pin in the base is unusual as they are most always nearly invisible, however all in all I think the gun is original.0
