Request Colt 1851 Navy Value Info
Thinning my collection due to old age & seeking guestimate of sale value of this Colt 1851 Navy s/n 175Ks, barrel bobbed to 6" & re-sighted. Old ivory grips & period holster with I.P. marked on frame & grip frames. Sharp markings & sharp scene 100%, bright bore. The periods after the I&P letter are with a square punch. All numbers match including wedge & cylinder.

Frame case color is all there but fading. Blue is original and about 80% but well marked with tiny handling marks all over.
I have had appraisals from $1500 to $4K & would appreciate other knowledgeable opinion.

I'm sorry but I can't tell if that's a Colt at all from your pics.
What are all of the markings on the barrel, cylinder and frame? Can you post some more pics? Maybe I just can't see the frame markings with my old eyes. If it is a genuine Colt, it has lost most of its collector value with that cut barrel. And, assuming it is a Colt, the "IP" would indicate it was one of a pair with ivory grips but they would have been one-piece.0 -
It bothers me that I don't see "COLT'S PATENT" on the frame and the case colors don't look right for a Colt. I think the frame was redone at some point. It also looks like a couple of screws were replaced which is not unusual.
I wish you hadn't blocked out some of the numbers because I'd like to compare the fonts. Still, it's kind of a nice looking gun and someone might like it as an "Old West" modification but a purist collector would likely pass on it. The replaced ivory grips, assuming they're real, would add some value to it.0
