I doubt you will get it to react with the nickel.

JUST un plate THE PISTOL first. Plating can be removed the reverse current from when it was plated.

I believe that Brownells sell a chemical denickeling solution? Call up one of their customer service techs. To see if it's possible, to Parkerize steel parts. After they have been denickeled, using this stuff.

Use Starbright to blast the nickel off.
    Then parkerize [;)]

Second PerryShooters suggestion, have it unplated/deplated.

DON'T try to beadblast it off, you will find little spots of nickel after you park it.

It will need to be unplated first, best done by the aforementioned electrolytic method. Then it will need to be sand/abrasive blasted before Parkerizing. Beadblasting will not form the optimum finish for Parkerizing to build up on.
