Garand Match sight numbers
I've got two match rear sights on two of my Garands. one is marked 520 the other is marked 595. The 595 has the bigger aperture. What do those numbers mean?
The front sights are marked .062 and are 0.062" in thickness. Duh.
I can't figure out what the 520/595 numbers stand for. Anyone know? It's not aperture diameter in inch measure that's for sure..

Those are the aperture "peep" sizes. A standard service rifle aperture is .070 (.074 max) while the NM apertures can be .0595 or .0520 with only .0025 tolerance allowable. 0
