Trapdoor Broken Shell Extractor
I have tried to figure these things out. How do you use the .45-70 Springfield Trapdoor
Broker Shell Extractor?
I ask because I have a bunch of them and have always wondered how they work.
I figure you push it in then take the cleaning rod and push it out from the muzzle.
Just asking if any of you have ever tried to use on.

I have never seen that version before. I agree, it is pressed into the breech end, then pushed back out with the cleaning rod. Versions I have seen have a rim so you could use the extractor. 0 -
That is the 1st Type headless shell extractor. The one you show on the other thread is the Model 1882 shell extractor. Both were issue items. They were the only two issued over the life of the "Trapdoor". 0 -
That's the Model 1875 Headless Shell Extractor, designed by
Springfield Armory employee William Tegethoff.
