Could you have left out a zero? The threads of a standard large ring Mauser are 12 tpi with a major dia. of 1.100" which is awfully close to 1.093". Also the treaded stub should be .625" 0 -
Yes on the 1.093 and yes on the 5/8" stub. 0 -
as per my other post, we were buying these from 'Sarco' for $35 back then. they are standard m-98 mauser barrels, large ring. very nice barrels but not 'commercial' quality. if listed at auction they 'may' bring close to a 'c' note. 0 -
Well Mike, I saved your info but, the reason I started Pt.2 was that Ambrose asked me a question and I didn't want to snub or make him wait...like he is me.
On the other hand, the reason I got the numbers wrong was because of reading the calipers upside-down and kept the numbers in my head. Being a homeowner, got sidetracked but finally entered the wrong info.
Perhaps Ambrose is a homeowner too. No offense intended.0 -
I too remember when original 98 barrels were cheap and common. The last decent German barrel I bought cost well over $100.
On the other hand, there are plenty of Yugo barrels out there. I bought 2 NOS in the white for less than a C note. They lack the German proof marks, but are drop in fits for a couple of 98s I desire to shoot.0
