11-87 wont lock open

Got a 11-87 that wont lock open when opened . Is this serious. Its a used gun that I bought. Shoots fine. Thanx

  Won't lock open at all or won't lock open after firing the last shot?

  Take it apart and clean it. Likely gummed up or a broken little spring.

  First thing I would look at is the carrier latch or spring. Then check
  the link to see if it is bent and will not let the action open all the
  way.

  first off it really dirty and second it had no rubber O ring. Works fine now. Tanx
