Barrel markings on M1 carbine.
Did the DCM or CMP ever mark the barrels of M1 Carbines. I have markings I can not decipher. See [https://www.dropbox.com/s/ivjeb8jvmtq06ky/inland4.jpg?dl=0][https://www.dropbox.com/s/3bp6cvtltvr0o94/2014-10-13 10.41.31.jpg?dl=0]photo. It looks like a double stamp Arlington, VA. at the end. Thanks for any and all info. John

DCM never marked anything; it was an office in Washington DC. All guns sold were shipped from US arsenals.
CMP never stamped the barrels, although some parts on rifles sold by them have new commercial parts.
What you see are import markings, which are the name, city, & state of the importer. Resolution is not good enough for us to decipher what yours are.

If it's stamped Arlington, Va, that would be Blue Sky Productions. They imported, and often rebuilt with various parts, surplus M1's from South Korea. 0 -

Here is a photo, with much clearer markings. I got off the net.

My carbines are Blue Skys but the stamp is so small you could easily mistake it for a scratch on the metal. 0 -

Rules stated they had to be marked but Not how big or how deep. Some people would take a tool steel Shaft and roll along these markings to try to iron them back into the metal and then use some dried grease mixed with wax to hide the then indistinct markings 0
