Inforce WMLx Light
Looking for a light for my home defense AR. Rumors of battery drain even when turned off. Anyone have experience with Inforce?

Answer. . .no.
With zero experience, I didn't want to respond here, but I guess since nobody else has responded to this in several days, I'll go out on a limb and say that nobody else has much experience with these either.
I find it hard to believe that any purpose designed weapons flashlight will drain batteries when "off". Especially not something built by a company with experience or that wants to maintain its reputation.
IMO, you *AT LEAST* want the thing to be able to sit around for a month or six and then know its going to work if you need to turn it on. If the thing doesn't stay "off" when "off" then IMO that's a serious design flaw. For me that would also be a deal-breaker for a light on a gun I was trusting my life to. . .though maybe not for everyone (see below).
FWIW, the Inforce WML has 14/15 five star reviews on Amazon. The one three star review raises exactly the complaint you mention. . .that the thing drained batteries when off. According to the reviewer, this issue was addressed in the product manual, which recommends unscrewing the light head when not in use to prevent drain.
You have to make your own decision here. Maybe unscrewing the light head isn't a big deal to you and if you otherwise like this, it might be a good buy. It probably only takes a few seconds to do this, and the cost savings here might be worth it.
Perhaps the one reviewer just got a bad unit, or a bad battery. Perhaps you could buy one, test it yourself, and see if this was an issue for you, with the possibility of return if it were.0 -
Thanks for the reply. I came to the same basic conclusion. Doesn't seem realistic that they would build a tactical light that had a battery drain issue, but if it does, what then? Trust my family's safety to a light I have to screw in when the adrenaline is pumping? Think not. They must have sold a few; surprised no one here has one. Think I'll look elsewhere. Thanks again. 0
