got a suggestion on where to buy a gun belt?
I am needing your help on buying a gun belt. They are not cheap and I need to know from guys who actually bought and wear the belts they recommend. I do not want anything fancy, just reliable and works as advertised. Would you recommend a stiffener for someone buying a belt? Your recommendation is greatly appreciated.

I think there is a reason the old western gunfighters, military and police carry their pistol on a heavy duty belt that isn't doing duty holding up their pants. I use a military pistol belt to carry my Jet. I made the fully lined flapped holster for it and it has alice clips to put it on and belts.

If you are going to carry outside your pants get at least a 3/16 thick belt or one with the stiffener in it. Don't be cheap for one, the better ones last [;)][^] 0 -
I have worn Tex Schumaker "River" belts for years, both trouser belts and gun belts (that support only the pistol, knife and ammo) and find they are strong and durable. The 2" wide gun belt is nearly 1/4" thick and plenty stiff until it's broken in. Then it's just strong. 0 -
Thanks for your recommendations. I did not say I wanted a cheap gun belt. I said that gun belts are not cheap. That is why I am asking for recommendations so I can find a good belt for me. I need info from you guys that are wearing them and have personal knowledge of good belts. Thanks again for your help. 0 -
Almost every gun show or large fairgrounds has a leather crafter
selling their wares.
I would recommend you find a local and "sample" his items.
With a one on one talk with the man making the belt, you can
specify what you are looking to get.

I've had good luck with any double layer leather gun belt.
They usually start at $60 and go up from there. I like my Ted Blocker belt and I'm currently wearing a no name from a gun show belt. And every Lou Alessi or milt sparks anything I have is great. YMMV0 -
I recently looked around for a gun belt and checked out several makers. thebeltman.net, simplyrugged.com, and bought one from SneakyPete's. All of these makers offer ideas/suggestions/reasons/considerations about what makes a good gun belt. The one I bought I am more than satisfied with and it serves it's purpose. Although I took and sent measurements as instructed it arrived about an inch and a half too long. I had to punch another hole and cut some off the end which I guess was better than being too short. I suppose what I'm saying, is to communicate with the maker until both of you are satisfied you understand what the other is saying and means. 0 -
